SUMMARY:CCS & Onboard Carbon Capture - Tech Update
DESCRIPTION:The shipping industry need to achieve the IMO 2050 target of a 50% CO2 emissions reduction compared to the 2008 level. Better technical and operational solutions are needed\, and zero carbon fuel solutions must be introduced and scaled by 2050 to reach the target. \nNorway is among the leaders in the technology development of both greener shipping and CCS technology. At the Technology Centre at Mongstad this day\, we invite participants to learn more about carbon capture and storage in general\, and to get an update on Equinor’s large-scale CCS-project and the maritime opportunities this provide. \nOnboard technologies for maritime carbon capture and storage may also be\npart of an eventual solution within the shipping industry. There is a growing interest for this subject within the maritime industry. At Mongstad\, both Compact Carbon Capture AS and the DecarbonICE-project will present their work. The latter consisting of a group of world leading shipping companies including NYK\, Sovcomflot\, Knutsen OAS and Ardmore\, ship builders and The Maritime Development Center Denmark. \nThe event is co-organised by NCE Maritime CleanTech and The Mohn Centre for Innovation and Regional Development at HVL\, and part of the MobiFORSK-project at Vestland County Council (funded by Research Council Norway). \nFree bus transport Halhjem (Dep. 8.20) – Flesland (9.00) – Mongstad (10.15) and return (at Halhjem 16.55). \nCCS & Onboard Carbon Capture – agenda \nTCM\, Mongstad 21th January 2019 \n10.30: Welcome to Technology Centre Mongstad \n10.45: CCS – overview – Krishan Totland\, TCM \n11.15: Lunch & Guided Tour \n12.30: CCS and Maritime opportunities – Frank Ollerhead\, Equinor \n13.00: Onboard Carbon Capture – Torleif Madsen\, Compact Carbon Capture \n13.25: DecarbonICE – Maritime carbon capture and storage – Mikkel Hansen\, The Maritime Development Center Denmark \n13.50: Pause \n14.00: Onboard carbon capturing: potential\, barriers\, risks – discussion \n14.40: Summary\, challenges and possible projects \n15.00: The end
