SUMMARY:Requirements at Sea: We Have the Recipe – So Why Isn’t It Being Followed?
DESCRIPTION:We already have a shining example of what public procurement requirements can achieve for zero-emission maritime transport. \n\n\n\nWhen the Norwegian government tendered new ferries for the Bodø–Lofoten route\, it included a requirement for hydrogen as a zero-emission fuel. The consequences have been significant. \n\n\n\nA hydrogen plant is now under construction in Bodø. The ferries are being built by a Norwegian shipyard\, based on designs by Norwegian ship designers. This has led to new expertise\, job creation – and a zero-emission ferry connection to Lofoten. \n\n\n\nThis is a clear case of green transformation in action – triggered by public procurement requirements set by the Solberg government. \n\n\n\nBut since that tender\, progress has stalled. Why hasn’t the current government followed the same example? And which upcoming maritime tenders could drive the next wave of zero-emission innovation? \n\n\n\nGreen H invites the industry do debate at Arendalsuka. Maritime CleanTech will be represented in the panel by CEO Ada Jakobsen.
