Ada Jakobsen (36) is appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of Maritime CleanTech. Jakobsen has broad experience in innovation and knows the maritime business from the inside.

– As CEO of Maritime CleanTech I will get the opportunity to work actively towards realizing the zero-emissions society of the future, together with a very competent administration, an ambitious board, and over 150 forward-thinking member companies that can push the technological, political, and market-related barriers to accelerate the energy transition of the maritime industry. This is basically a dream job, Jakobsen says.

Jakobsen has more than 12 years of experience in technology, the car industry, startups, and the maritime business. She is a familiar face to the innovative environment of Maritime CleanTech and worked closely with innovation projects at North Sea Container Line. Jakobsen was also a member of Maritime Clean Tech’s board from 2018 – 2020.

Strengthens the internationalization of green shipping

Maritime CleanTech’s Chair of the board, Bjørn Sundland is very pleased with securing Jakobsen as the new CEO:

With Ada in command, we get a highly motivated leader who is passionate about innovation, digitalization, and decarbonization and knows the maritime sector from the inside. Ada will be an important driving force for taking green, Norwegian shipping solutions to international markets, Sundland says.

In addition to extensive business experience, Jakobsen has formal management education from leading universities. She holds an Executive MBA from the prestigious HEC Paris, where she specialised in digitalization and energy. She also has a master’s in leadership and organizational psychology from BI Norwegian Business School, and a degree in Economics from the University of St Andrews, Scotland.

– Ada is a sharp tactician with bold ambitions for Maritime CleanTech’s task of cutting emissions from shipping. She is inspired, efficient, and already has a very impressive cv, Sundland says.

Starts in February

Maritime CleanTech is a cluster organization, owned and powered by the industry, with members representing the entire maritime value chain. Due to increased activity and a growing project portfolio, the administration will be welcoming several new employees at the start of next year.

– It’s a solid team I‘ll be joining, who’s got several important technology projects coming up, together with ambitious partners, Jakobsen says.

Håvard Tvedte holds the role of Interim CEO until Jakobsen starts the position on February 15th.
