Maritime Decarbonization: Balancing Innovation, Competitiveness and Risk
The maritime industry in Europe is under growing pressure to reduce emissions and accelerate maritime decarbonization. While alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol are key to long-term green shipping, they remain costly and depend on developing infrastructure. In the short term, retrofitting vessels, improving energy efficiency, and optimizing operations can deliver faster and more cost-effective results.
The green transition is also reshaping the industry’s risk landscape. New fuels, digitalization, and complex supply chains introduce risks, including cybersecurity threats and geopolitical uncertainty. Sustainability and security are becoming increasingly interconnected.
This event brings together German and Norwegian maritime stakeholders to explore strategies for decarbonization, competitiveness, and resilience in the European maritime sector.
The event is organised by the German-Norwegian chamber of commerce.
