Policy Update: Global Carbon Tax - A Game Changer for Green Shipping?

In 2024, the International Maritime Organization adopted an ambitious climate strategy: a 70% emission reduction by 2040 and net-zero by 2050. A critical step toward these goals is the 2025 decision on a economic mechanism for realizing IMOs new climate strategy. A global CO₂ tax is one of the options on the table – a potential turning point for sustainable shipping.

What would such a mechanism mean for global decarbonization? How is Norwegian industry positioned, what role are Norway taking in the negotiations and how should such a mechanism be designed and implemented? These pivotal questions will be explored at our Policy Update seminar in Stavanger.

Speakers include Norway’s Minister of Climate and Environment Andreas Bjelland Eriksen and leaders from the maritime industry.

Join us for an in-depth discussion on Norway’s role in shaping the future of green shipping and global climate solutions.
This event will be held in Norwegian.
