Meet Maritime CleanTech´s new Head of Innovation and Project Development

Loaded with previous experience and an innovative attitude, Øystein Huglen joins the cluster administration eager to strengthen the cluster partners' competitiveness going through the green shift.

– I am really excited to join the cluster and to better understand the partner's challenges and opportunities, says Øystein Huglen.  

– Experiencing tremendous times of change for climate efforts I strongly believe that our maritime industries will improve competitiveness through the delivery of the required emission reductions.

Huglen started his new job as Head of Innovation and Project Development in Maritime CleanTech 1st of October.

Broad experience

– We are lucky to get Huglen´s broad experience on board. His new role includes responsibility for our innovation program, and to define and execute development projects to support the maritime industry in reaching its emissions targets. In line with our new strategy, this will strengthen both the technological development and the commercialization of green solutions for shipping, says CEO in Maritime CleanTech, Hege Økland.

Huglen´s experience includes the successful delivery of a range of innovative solutions and projects within a broad specter of maritime value chains.

Clients and employers include companies like DNV, Equinor, Teekay, Lyse and AF Gruppen to mention some. For the last seven years, Huglen has worked at ConocoPhillips Norway. Since 2019 he held the position of Director of Innovation and Data Analytics.

– I hope I can use my many years of relevant experience to create new and sustainable solutions together with our cluster partners, Huglen says.
