Fully recharged after the summer, Trygve Førland Nedrebø and Alv Øidvin have joined the Maritime CleanTech administration. Covering a broad range of experience and expertise between them, the team’s new additions are more than ready to tackle emission reductions at sea.

As a trained sea captain, Trygve F. Nedrebø brings hands-on experience and a new perspective. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Chief Officer on passenger boats and ferries with cluster partner Norled. For the last six years, he held various positions in the shipping company Solvang, both as a Maritime Superintendent and Crew Manager. Having worked with global trade for a renowned ship owner, he has developed a deep understanding of the industry and the value of each vessel.

– While I find the emphasis on zero-emission fuels important for the climate goals ahead, I firmly believe we also need to focus on reducing emissions from the existing fleet. A lot can still be done regarding energy efficiency and retrofit solutions that will help save fuel and prolong the lifespan of fully functional ships worldwide. We can deliver on industry transition now, and not just in the coming years, Nedrebø says.

After joining Maritime CleanTech as a Project Developer, he’s already involved in the ongoing Retrofit Solutions project. In addition, he will assist partners in initiating and leading green innovation projects, as well as advice on technology development and ways to meet stricter emission regulations.

Strengthening the Stavanger presence

Trygve will work out of the Stavanger office, accompanied by our new Project Coordinator, Alv Øidvin. Alv recently finished his master’s in Technology, Innovation, and Knowledge at the University of Oslo. Now, he is ready to put it to use.

– Having grown up in Ryfylke, surrounded by boats and ferries, I have always been fascinated with the maritime environment. I’m thrilled to be a part of it now and to use my insights in innovation and systemic approach to sustainability transitions, to support the green initiatives from the cluster, Øidvin says.

Through the Norwegian School of Entrepreneurship’s exchange program, Alv studied New Business Development at the University of California, Berkeley. He has also specialized in public procurement, EU  law and policy, and public-private collaboration at OsloMet. Combined with an internship at the Oslo Region European Office in Brussels, he brings a unique insight into international innovation and project development.

– With the two new hires, we offer the full range of competencies and capacities to drive new initiatives and support more projects. We aim to help our partners innovate, export and grow, so we can truly accelerate the green shift, says Øystein Huglen, who leads Maritime Cleantech’s Innovation and Project Development department.
