In a new initiative, Maritime CleanTech is looking into how digital technology can help create a sustainable future for shipping. And we want to hear from our partners what we need to succeed.

The digital revolution is transforming all aspects of society, creating great opportunities for the companies that lead the charge. Through its Horizon programme, the EU is now increasing its funding focus on digital solutions for emissions reduction, creating further incentives for maritime businesses to harness the power of digitalisation for decarbonisation.

This is the background for Maritime CleanTech’s new strategic initiative, which will start by identifying key digital areas that can accelerate sustainable practices within the maritime sector.

Consultant and project manager Nina Ingvaldsen has been engaged to conduct a survey among our green maritime network and map opportunities for greater collaboration.

Eager to hear from partners

“Many partner companies already implement digital technologies in their solutions, but the potential is far greater than what is being utilized today. I’m looking forward to assisting Maritime CleanTech on this initiative and getting input from partners on which areas of digitalisation should be prioritised going forward,” Ingvaldsen said.

Ingvaldsen brings a wealth of experience as a computer engineer and a seasoned project manager. She was previously head of the Bømlo Business Council, where she became well-acquainted with the maritime industry.

“I have been impressed with what Maritime CleanTech and their partners have achieved through collaborative initiatives. In its new strategy, the organisation aims to sharpen its focus on digital initiatives that will help to decarbonize shipping. I hope this survey will lay the foundation for many exciting projects that can help speed up the green transition,” she added.

A sea of digital opportunities

Maritime CleanTech’s CEO Ada Jakobsen is enthusiastic about this new initiative. “Digitalization is a critical enabler for the green maritime transition. By harnessing digital technology, we can unlock new opportunities to reduce emissions and improve efficiency across the industry.”
