Torghatten, Zeabuz and Seam embark autonomous zero-emission vessel project

Aims to start sea trials by fall 2025.

Haugesund Municipality has signed a letter of intent with three new partners for the research and development project aiming to develop an autonomous zero-emission passenger vessel to operate in Haugesund.

The new partners join an already strong team of collaborators which includes Haugesund Municipality, Karmsund Port, Havnekraft, Remota, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Norce and Maritime CleanTech.

"Expertise and experience are key to the success of such an innovative project. When changes in the project allowed us to bring in additional players, we selected the three we believe have the most expertise and experience in this field in Norway. I believe we now have a solid and strong collaborative group with every chance of succeeding in developing an autonomous and zero-emission city ferry in Haugesund," says project manager Veronica Charlotte Haugan.

Last year, the project reveived 11 million NOKs in funding from the regional Ulla-Førrefondet.

The 15 meter long vessel will carry around 50 passengers and have a max speed of 15 knots.
