As clean solutions are moving from pilots to market rollout, Maritime CleanTech and partners look forward to exploring the industry’s next steps at the Maritime Hybrid Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cells Conference & Exhibition in Bergen.
For the first time, Maritime CleanTech joins the annual event as a supporting organisation. Head of Technology and Innovation Øystein Huglen and Head of EU Projects Tore Boge are among the 40+ speakers at the conference, which takes place from 21–23 October.
“Norway’s early investments in maritime electrification have given us valuable experience in bringing new technologies into commercial operations. This is highly relevant to the EU’s new Industrial Maritime and Ports Strategies, which place greater emphasis on scaling up innovation and strengthening European competitiveness,” says Boge.
“Through Maritime CleanTech, we bring this experience into European collaboration, helping accelerate the deployment of solutions and create new opportunities for the maritime industry.”
Shaping the next European priorities
The conference comes as the EU shapes its next long-term budget for 2028–2034, with implications for maritime technology development and investment.
Following the launch of EUs Port Strategy and Industrial Maritime Strategy Maritime CleanTech has been active in developing new technology roadmaps for the European maritime sector. The roadmaps, which were recently handed to the European Commission set out industry priorities for technology development and the conditions needed to bring solutions to market.
“The EU’s new maritime strategies send a clear signal: Europe wants to accelerate the transition from research and innovation to commercial deployment. As future EU programmes take shape, Maritime CleanTech is working to ensure that the maritime industry is not just prepared for these changes, but actively helps shape them. By connecting industry, policymakers and European organisations, we are helping shape future priorities, strengthen the sector’s position and create new opportunities for innovation and deployment,” says Tore Boge.

Join the discussion in Bergen
On Thursday, 22 October, Øystein Huglen will give a talk on “The EU’s new technology agenda: what it means for innovation, infrastructure and market growth”, exploring industrial priorities and what comes next for EU funding and investment.
The following day, Tore Boge will join a panel with DNV and Invest in Bergen to discuss “Paving the way forward amid geopolitical and regulatory uncertainty”. Topics include how to de-risk major fleet decisions and how regional cooperation can support progress.
Partners including Brim, Corvus Energy, The Switch, LH2 Shipping and ZEM also feature on the conference programme, ready to discuss real-world deployments of hybrid, electric, and hydrogen solutions. Delegates can also meet Maritime CleanTech in the exhibition to learn about ongoing demonstration projects including STEESMAT and HyShip.
