Offshore vessels were among the first vessel types to take advantage of battery technology to reduce cost and emissions. Since then, this has become standard technology and Corvus alone has delivered energy storage systems for more than 100 offshore and offshore wind vessels.

The next big breakthrough for offshore vessels is to enable 100% zero-emission operations.

In the last decade, battery technology has developed towards less weight and higher energy density – we have also come a long way in how to extend the range by adding clean fuels and fuel cells.

In this session, we will present two different zero-emission OSV case studies; one on batteries alone and one with batteries and hydrogen fuel cells. The presentation will cover design considerations for hybrid and electric technology, hydrogen`s role in the energy mix, investment costs versus operational savings as well as technology developments going forward.
