Marine Propulsion Systems – life cycle assesment (webinar)

November 25 at 12:0013:30

Event Navigation

Both national and international goals have been set for emission reductions for the maritime sector. The development and adoption of new and emerging marine fuels and propulsion system technologies may offer GHG emission reduction potentials, but because emissions arise both upstream and downstream of the use phase, a life cycle perspective is required to obtain a complete picture of the GHG emissions.

In this webinar, NCE Maritime CleanTech will launch a comparative life cycle assessment (LCA) study of a range of marine propulsion systems. The webinar is exclusively available for participation for representatives from cluster partners in NCE Maritime CleanTech.

The study includes estimates and compares the life cycle GHG emissions of a range of propulsion system technologies. Various propulsion systems for an express boat, a platform supply vessel, and a chemical tanker are considered. The study considers both conventional fuels and internal combustion engines as well as new and emerging propulsion system technologies such as ammonia as a combustion fuel and electrification through batteries and fuel cells.

The study is developed with financial support by Vestland County Council.

Agenda (webinar in Norwegian):

  • Opning webinar – Hege Økland, adm. direktør NCE Maritime CleanTech
  • Presentasjon av analyse – John Ingar Jenssen, gruppeleder Energi og Miljø, Asplan Viak
  • Spørsmål og kommentarar frå deltakarar
  • Oppsummering – Hege Økland, adm. direktør NCE Maritime CleanTech
