FLAGSHIPS Ship Launch
December 3 at 14:00 – 16:00
ZULU 06, the second zero-emission demonstrator vessel in the FLAGSHIPS project, is ready to commence operations on the Seine.
The hydrogen cargo transport vessel is owned by French inland shipowner Compagnie Fluvial de Transport, a subsidiary of the Sogestran Group. It will move goods on pallets and in containers from Gennevilliers to Bonneuil Sur Marne.
The vessel will operate on compressed hydrogen produced from electrolysis, enabling zero-emission operations. ABB Marine & Ports has supplied the power generation system for ZULU 06 with two 200 kW PEM fuel cells from Ballard. LMG Marin is responsible for detailed design drawings.
The christening event is organised by Sogestran Group in partnership with Navigable Waterways of France, France Hydrogen, and the EU-funded FLAGSHIPS project. Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
FLAGSHIPS is a collaborative effort of Compagnie Fluvial de Transport, Sogestran Group, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Maritime CleanTech, Norled, ABB, LMG Marine, Seam, Persee, Ballard, and Future Proof Shipping.
The goal of the project is to deploy two commercially operated zero-emission hydrogen vessels. The first, H2 Barge 2, was launched on the Rhine in February.
