Wärtsilä Ship Design and Hardcruise are developing a New and complete concept for environmentally-friendly cruise traffic on the Hardangerfjord in Norway. The project partners are looking at several different vessel types and propulsion systems. Different possibilities such as reconstruction of supply vessels, development of river cruise ships and newbuilds will be evaluated. Both fully-electric and hybrid energy systems will be considered for the concept.
The cruise industry is the fasting growing sector in international tourism, and these vessels leave an enormous environmental impact. The project is addressing this problem by creating an environmentally-friendly cruise concept. The goal is to develop green and competitive cruise ship solutions for ship operators and tourism operators.
