In cooperation with Sparebanken Vest a jury has named Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding the Cluster Partner of the Year 2020 for their contribution to the greening of the maritime industry.

It is a great honor for us to be awarded «Cluster partner of the year». Embracing sustainable innovation through new technology and finding new ways of working are essential for us to continue shaping the maritime industry. Our participation in NCE Maritime CleanTech has given us access to a valuable network of partners enabling us in realizing not only our ambitions but also contributing to solving some of the industry’s pressing challenges. Through the partner network, we believe we can accelerate solutions leading to zero-emission maritime transportation along the Norwegian coast and in the longer-term also contribute to sustainable global trade. The service-minded, dedicated and professional staff of Maritime Cleantech is our very best facilitator in bringing companies together and important projects to reality, says Per Brinchman VP Special Projects in Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding.

Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding was awarded the prize by Ragnhild Janbu Fresvik, Executive Vice President at Sparebanken Vest, at the NCE Maritime CleanTech annual conference – which was organized online this year due to the covid19-situation. This is the second year the prize has been awarded. The prize goes to a cluster company that stands out in the field of green technology and who actively participates in cluster cooperation.

The winner receives a certificate and a prize award of NOK 100,000 (approx. EUR 10,000). The prize aims to stimulate green innovation through collaboration as well as to highlight the cluster partners who are good ambassadors for the cluster cooperation.

Due to ambitious international climate targets, the demand for green technology will increase significantly in the years to come. Cooperation between cluster member’s is key to speed up the technology development and to secure the competitiveness for the Norwegian industry, says CEO in NCE Maritime CleanTech, Hege Økland

Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding is a new cluster member who in a short time has  engaged in a number of the activities and projects in the cluster. VP Special Projects Per Brinchmann, is the leader of NCE Maritime Cleantech’s Resource Group for Deep Sea, and the Steering Group for Hydro’s dry bulk project. Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding is also involved in both the EU project HySHIP and the PilotE project for liquid hydrogen led by BKK, Equinor and AirLiquide.

Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding and Per Brinchmann is a good ambassador for the cluster and has highlighted the cluster collaboration on several occasions. We believe the company is a good example of how a business gains great value through cluster collaboration by being an active contributor, says Head of the jury and Executive Vice President in Sparebanken Vest, Ragnhild Jansbu Fresvik.
