Project Manager in Maritime CleanTech, Silje Sivertsen, R&D Innovation in Telenor Maritime Ulf Duus Carlsen and Head of Innovation in Maritime CleanTech, Øystein Huglen.

Telenor Maritime aims to deliver the best connectivity services at sea. Partnering up with Maritime CleanTech they hope to scale up and develop their products together with key players from the maritime industry.

– Our strategy is to be the leading global communications partner at sea. The growing need for data from ship to shore requires secure and affordable hybrid connectivity solutions. We are working hard to deliver a wide portfolio of solutions to provide the industry with the same opportunities at sea as on shore. Becoming a member in Maritime CleanTech, we hope to gain new partnerships and knowledge due to the organisation´s strong ambitions and holistic focus on sustainable innovation, says Ulf Duus Carlsen, R&D Innovation at Telenor Maritime.

Telenor Maritime is already a key player in the global connectivity market.

– The digital transformation requires a digital and secure connectivity infrastructure. As a central player in this chain of services we see the huge potential and value of capturing and structuring data for the optimisation of complex operational processes. Telenor Maritime’s platform is designed and developed as a sustainable solution for decarbonisation, providing the foundation for data analysis and process optimisation. We work to realise the efficiency potential in projects where remote and autonomous operations enable “green transportation”, a reduced carbon footprint, and increased safety, Carlsen says.

Big need to stay in front

Interim CEO in Maritime CleanTech, Håvard Tvedte, is thrilled about Telenor Maritime joining Maritime CleanTech.

– Digitalization is an integrated part of modern industry, and it is growing. The technology is constantly developing, and we need to be among the frontrunners when it comes to handling data and communications – also at sea. Better solutions means lower emissions. Getting Telenor Maritime on our team is therefore an essential step for Maritime CleanTech and our many partners, Tvedte says.

Telenor Maritime is already participating in a range of national and international R&D initiatives on the technology side, including 5G for next generation, private network solutions, LEO integrations and digital transformation.

– Telenor Maritime has a strategic focus on cooperating with partners to further scale our services within our already global market reach. To succeed in reaching the IMO targets, we all need to cooperate. We want to support our partners with our leading mobile connectivity competency, our global network, and our flexible and proactive business approach. We support the industry with key services but acknowledge our role in the value chain, and our goal is to learn and grow with our partners, says Carlsen.
