Last week, politicians and industry gathered face to face in Arendal. Throughout the event, Maritime CleanTech and our partners brought ideas, innovations and influence to the table. The result? A clear call for bolder climate policies, faster action, and closer collaboration between industry and policy makers.
Offshore in Focus: Regulation and Readiness
One of the week’s most talked-about topics was the proposed climate regulation for Norway’s offshore fleet. With EU and IMO rules just around the corner, our message was clear: Norway needs clear, national requirements to stay ahead and build the infrastructure to match.
Maritime CleanTech is now helping unite companies across the value chain to prepare a joint response before the public hearing ends this autumn.
Ferries: Green Means Go
Another major highlight was the debate on fast ferries. Politicians from across the spectrum showed rare agreement: the green shift in ferry transport is not just possible, it’s necessary. With public procurement, clear requirements and strong industry backing, the pieces are already in place.
Maritime CleanTech will keep up the pressure and support its 150+ partners to turn commitments into contracts.
Green Shipping in a Troubled World
At the event Grønn skipsfart i en urolig verden, we gathered industry leaders such as Höegh Autoliners, Höegh Evi, Kongsberg Maritime and Yara International to discuss how Norway can maintain its maritime leadership in a time of geopolitical and economic turbulence. Topics ranged from the ripple effects of EU and IMO regulations to the urgent need for domestic policy alignment and infrastructure development.
The message was clear: In a world of rising instability, Norway’s best response is to lead by example — at home and abroad.
What’s Next?
This year’s Arendalsuka was more than a meeting of minds. It was an opportunity to align politicians with actual industry development, and to show how our partners are developing technology to meet a new standard of climate friendly shipping.
With progress in ammonia, hydrogen, energy efficiency and electrification, and strong attention on new policy, Maritime CleanTech leaves Arendal energised and ready to lead the next chapter of the green transition.
