Maritime CleanTech is strengthening its policy work by establishing a new industry policy advisory group. The group will advise the organisation on innovation, climate and industrial policy at Norwegian, European and IMO level.
The initiative brings together key representatives from across the maritime value chain contributing strategic insight and hands-on industry experience. The ambition is clear: to ensure that policies are grounded in operational reality and aligned with the pace of technological development.
Shaping policies
The advisory group will support Maritime CleanTech’s strategic focus on shaping policies that accelerate decarbonisation, alongside validating and scaling technologies and enabling market adoption. In a time of tightening climate regulation and growing geopolitical uncertainty, close dialogue between industry and policymakers is essential.
Interim CEO Håvard Tvedte welcomes the initiative as a natural step in the organization’s evolution:
“Maritime CleanTech was founded on collaboration. Our strength lies in bringing competitors and partners together to move the industry forward. With this advisory group, we are reinforcing that collaborative model also in the policy arena”
Strategic sounding board
Maritime CleanTech has in recent years intensified its engagement in national processes, EU programmes, and international forums. With new regulations emerging from Brussels and strengthened climate ambitions at IMO level, coordinated industry input has never been more important. The Industry Policy Advisory Group will serve as a strategic sounding board and a platform for structured dialogue. It will identify barriers to market uptake, propose regulatory improvements, and contribute to concrete policy recommendations that accelerate investment in zero-emission solutions.
Reber Iversen, Policy and Project Manager at Maritime CleanTech, emphasizes the importance of the new initiative:
“This will strengthen our policy work by leveraging industry expertise and cutting-edge insight into policy-, market- and technology development. Maritime transition requires ambitious but practical solutions and frameworks.”
The establishment of the advisory group underlines Maritime CleanTech’s role as a trusted bridge between industry and authorities. By combining technological leadership with policy engagement, the organisation aims to ensure that Norway and Europe remain frontrunners in the global race towards zero-emission shipping.
