Together with six cluster companies and European R&D- and education institutions and companies, NCE Maritime CleanTech has established a new innovation project that aims to get financing from the EU. The TrAM-project’s main mission is to develop and validate a concept for modular design and construction of vessels. Terminal solutions and Smart City integration are other elements included in the project.
TrAM’s main focus is electrical powered vessels operating in protected waters, and the cluster’s Urban Water Shuttle-concept will be used as case study.
Great feedback in the interim evaluation
Earlier this year the project applied for financial support from EU’s research program Horizon 2020. In April, we got excellent feedback from the Commision’s interim evaluation, and we are invited to prepare a phase-two application in October.
On June 12th-13th the whole project consortium with 15 partners gathered for the first project meeting at Rogaland County Council in Stavanger. The partners discussed the goals of the project, work packages and construction methods for the vessel. An expert group that will work with topics involving new methods for modularity and construction has also been established.
Participants in the project are: Apply Leirvik, Fjellstrand, Servogear, Sapa, Rogaland fylkeskommune, Wärtsilä Holland, Lloyd’s Register (UK), MBNA Thames Clippers (UK), University of Strathclyde (UK), Fraunhofer IEM (Germany), HSVA (Germany) and Waterwegen & Zeekanal NV (Belgium).
