2022 – another year like no other. Together with our partners, we´re ready to fast forward the green maritime energy transition.
“Last year was a year of impressive activity growth, with new members of our collaboration and new employees joining the team. Maritime CleanTech continues to be one of the leading international maritime hubs for developing full-scale clean solutions for the future. This was proven when awarded several new EU-funded projects,” says Bjørn Sundland, Maritime CleanTech´s Chair of the Board.
In total, 19 new members joined Maritime CleanTech and over 350 MNOK in public funding were raised to support new collaborative innovation actions. Read more in the annual report below.
A significant highlight of 2022 was the launch of the world´s first all-electric high-speed craft, Medstraum, crowned “Ship of the year 2022” during SMM in Hamburg. Built by Fjellstrand, with technologies from several Maritime CleanTech partners, Medstraum is now in daily operation in Stavanger. The development was supported by EU through the TrAM project.
“The TrAM project is a result of stamina and cooperation between partners – all initiated by Maritime CleanTech”, Sundland adds.
New CEO on board – moving forward
Ada Jakobsen recently joined Maritime CleanTech as the new Chief Executive Officer. Jakobsen is getting ready to meet the devoted and ambitious partners:
“As I take on the CEO role, Maritime CleanTech has around 150 members from the full green maritime value chain. Together we have developed a strong project portfolio that demonstrates future shipping within key segments and types of more energy-efficient and clean technologies. We remain committed to our methodology of bringing together actors from across the value chain that demonstrates new solutions for green shipping. We work with members from concept all the way to realization and operation. We use our extensive network and expertise to enable the scaling and growth of new maritime innovations in Norway, The Nordics, Europe, and beyond,” says Ada Jakobsen.
She can´t wait to start maneuvering the ship toward an even greener future.
“We will this year actively seek out new ways and types of partnerships that have the potential to accelerate the decarbonizing of shipping. We are ready to challenge ourselves and welcome you to challenge us in return to make an even bigger impact. Then, we invite you to continue your collaborative spirit within Maritime CleanTech, and work with us to fast forward the green maritime energy transition.”
